okay...I was pretty sure I couldn't feel any worse about the way things are, but I've just hit a new low.
Is it really the Filipino way to take a good thing and wring it for twice what it's worth? Years ago, people the world over were lauding us for coming up with the concept of people power. Now they're collectively shaking their heads.
Many times what we do in government and politics can seem mind-boggling to the international press. This fiasco with GMA is no different. But I attribute it to the fact that while we are a democracy, we are a relatively new one - just about 50 years old. So if it seems like we don't know what we're doing, that's only because we're just trying to figure things out the hard way on our own. I prefer to maintain this perspective in the event of any kind of bizarre behaviour we may project to the international community.
"How come there's text beside the photo? Was this part of an article?"
Yup. If I remember right, the picture was taken by Dino's girl-at-that-moment. It was then subsequently published in a journal for investigative journalism. The caption read: "Young people formed the bulk of the demonstrators at Edsa, which became the site of noisy, joyous and irreverent protest."

We'll get better.
I hope you're right, TC.

Hehe. Young people. If only they knew.
